Albertien is intent on making a contribution in creating a sustainable society. With that mission in mind, she directed her education and the first years of her professional career towards nature conservation. Albertien studied at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and holds a MSc. degree in Forest- and Nature Conservation. This allowed her to work for NGO’s like WWF Netherlands, Foundations of Success Europe and Eurosite. Several years ago Albertien started her own business, focused on strategic planning and management of conservation projects.
After several years focus on biodiversity management, Albertien wanted to work together with others on making the food system more sustainable. The combination of polyculture and vertical farming offer a promising way forward.
The majority of Albertien’s work is related to Polydome, but she is also involved in other sustainability projects. Albertien brings energy and structure to processes, creating an environment for others to excel. With her analytical and constructive approach she helps teams design and implement effective interventions. She applies her expertise of adaptive management and ecology to make projects successful in realizing change towards sustainability.
Will Estonia be the first proud owner of a Polydome sustainable agriculture system in the world? During the second half of 2015 we researched the feasibility of a Polydome in the Arkna Eco Park. Our study and supporting business plan were funded by Horizon 2020.
